Have you seen Block 1 to 7 Teck Whye Lane’s new look?

Every seven years, HDB blocks undergo Repairs & Redecoration (R&R) works to give the estate a fresh new look. Chua Chu Kang Town Council (CCKTC) works closely with the Residents’ Committees (RC) and paint specialists to propose at least three colour schemes for R&R works to our residents.

Repairs & Redecoration (R&R) works at Block 1 to 7 Teck Whye Lane commenced in end July 2017 and was completed by end April 2018. The R&R works included giving the estate a fresh new look by the Piet Mondrian inspired façade and Vincent Van Gogh inspired art murals at the void decks. 75% of the residents selected the Piet Mondrian and Vincent Van Gogh inspired colour scheme while the two other colour schemes received 12% and 13% of the votes, respectively.

Colour scheme surveys were distributed to the residents of Block 1 to 7 Teck Whye Lane while artist impressions and descriptions of the three proposed colour schemes were put up on the Town Council Noticeboard at each block. Residents’ Committee (RC) members and Chua Chu Kang Town Council (CCKTC) officers also visited residents to encourage them to vote for their preferred colour scheme. Residents submitted their votes between 09 June to 30 June 2017.

General Manager of CCKTC, Mr Clarence Tan expressed that feedback on the precinct’s new look has been generally positive thus far and said that, “We are always looking at ways to bring new vibrancy into our estates and as such, had decided to explore the possibility of implementing a different but distinctive colour scheme for our R&R works. Officers from CCKTC, RC and the paint specialists worked together to think outside the box to provide this unique colour scheme as an option and had hoped that residents would be receptive to the idea. We are delighted that this colour scheme has been well received by our residents and will definitely continue to explore new themes, where possible for our R&R works, including art-inspired colour schemes.”

NRP Consensus Gathering @ Nanyang
30 October 2016

Over 500 residents from Blocks 812-832, 828A & 830A participated in the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme (NRP) Consensus Gathering on Sunday, 30 October 2016.

During the event, MP for Chua Chu Kang GRC (Nanyang), Mr Yee Chia Hsing shared with the residents about the highlights of the NRP. A 400m jogging track in Jurong West Park will be built to encourage our residents to cultivate an active and healthy lifestyle. In addition, the ground of the hardcourt in the park will be levelled off to reduce steps. This will help improve accessibility and provide greater convenience for our residents, especially the elderly and wheelchair users.

We are elated to see our residents’ strong support for the NRP. It was truly an enjoyable evening for the residents as the seats are all filled up for the getai performance which we have specially prepared.

For residents who were unable to attend the Consensus Gathering, you may still send your support or feedback to the Town Council by emailing to info@ccktc.org.sg.
