It’s that time of the year to declutter our homes while keeping our corridors and common areas clear.
Let’s make our homes bright, neat, and inviting to all.
Gallop into the new year by decluttering and recycling right
Give to a Cause
Donate functional items that are in good, usable condition and give them a new lease of life with someone who may appreciate them more. This can include clean clothing, footwear, fashion accessories, household items (like crockery, kettles), toys, and more.
Charity shops such as the Salvation Army’s Re:Nue have bins island-wide for you to donate your items, including Praisehaven (500 Upper Bukit Timah Road).

Bless Someone
You can also give away these items on platforms such as Carousell, Olio, or on Facebook groups such as this one: Singapore blessing give away group.
Check out this list here by the National Environment Agency (NEA) for more ways to Donate, Resell, and Repair your items.
Recycle Right
Use the Bloobins (blue recycling bins) in our estate to recycle paper, plastic, glass and metal
Make sure to clean the items first, before placing them inside the Bloobins!
Remember not to dump dirty, greasy, or food-contaminated items into the bin, as this could taint the entire bin and render everything else inside un-recyclable.
Check out this infographic here for more useful details on how to correctly use Bloobins.

For example, did you know that you can recycle tetra-paks and takeout containers, as long as they are washed?

Use E-waste Bins to Recycle Your Electronics
Do you have unwanted batteries, light bulbs, or electronics? Always use the white Alba e-waste bins to properly dispose of these electrical devices.
It will do good for the health of our planet, as well as people: many of our consumer electronics comprise both valuable minerals (e.g. gold) and toxic substances (e.g. lead, mercury). However, e-waste operators are able to recover precious resources from these electronics for reuse, while protecting our environment and health from toxic substances.
